About Velez College
Knowledge and Truth through Education
Velez College is an educational institution incorporated under the Philippine Corporation Law on March 28, 1966. Dr. Jacinto Velez, Sr. was the founder of the institution. He was also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cebu (Velez) General Hospital during that period.
The roots of the college started with the establishment of the Cebu (Velez) General Hospital School of Nursing in the school year 1952-1953, with the original three-year Nursing academic program. The twenty-six (26) graduates for the first batch received their Graduate Nurse diploma in April 1955.
In March of the school year 1966-1967, Velez College opened its first class with the College of Liberal Arts, with its 17 first batch of graduates in March 1969, with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Arts.
Since then, Velez College has expanded its academic offerings to include various healthcare programs including Nursing, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. The institution has consistently maintained high standards of education, producing graduates who excel in their respective fields and contribute significantly to the healthcare industry both locally and internationally.
